April 2015 PAD – Day 17: The Continuity Game

On April 17th 1964, the Ford Motor Co. launched the Mustang at the World’s Fair in Flushing Meadows, New York.

The Continuity Game

Bullitt drove it like a rocket
as he chased them up and down
the hilly streets of San Francisco
quiet on a Sunday morning just as you’d expect
the freeway jammed with traffic
just as you wouldn’t
up and down they went
and maybe round and round
as they pass the same two cars for the third time
the classic movie car chase
watch that Mustang race!

the final scene approaches, poignant and heartfelt
the hero parks conveniently outside his front door
mounts the steps, coat over arm dressed in blue
walks through the front door sans manteau
and wearing his favourite red sweater
but it’s all about the depth of character
it’s about spirit and integrity
and just a little bit about
that car
