April 2015 PAD – Day 18: Crushed/The Parent Trap

On April 18th 1946 actress Hayley Mills was born.
Today I have two poems.

Crushed

Glistening
Bright
Funny
Beautiful
Young heart stealer

When a young boy’s mind turned
to thoughts of love
there you were
shining like a star
a Hollywood starlet
taking my breath away
taking my heart for your own
Tuesday Weld was too wild
and Susan George came much later
Deanna Durbin was much to old
But Hayley, oh Hayley!
It was always you
You never knew but my crush
was only crushed
when I found out that you were older too

Iain

The Parent Trap

Like a vice gripping the soul
the love for a child can be dented
but never broken

Iain

Iain, I saw it was her birthday today too! I loved The Parent Trap!
I think it’s a good thing that by the time people turn 69, they are too old to giggle about it. I never gave a high school student that grade. If they tried hard, it’d be a 70; otherwise, 68.
