Down the River

The Texan holds ‘em
Close to his chest
Never a tell
Not so much as a bead of sweat
But what’s the new kid grinning about?
Does he really think to draw
The inside straight
The stakes are high
The chips are down
Everyone in town is gathered here tonight
Tonight’s the night the king will be crowned
The bet is made
The pass
The raise
The river card is laid
The kid grimaces in pain
The straight is busted flat
But the Texan stays pat
Still no tell, then comes another raise
Slowly around the table they fold
All except the man in the big black hat
The Texan drawls slowly and says
I do believe this pot is mine
Boy, takes more than a poker face
To sell me down the river
